Shibuya Startup Support (SSS) and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) have signed a partnership collaborating on startup support. To celebrate they held the ‘Shibuya x OIST Uniting for Startup Success’ event at O2 OKINAWA OFFICE on December 15, 2023.

Shibuya x OIST Uniting for Startup Success
The event featured a talk between Yoshiro Tasaka, head of Shibuya City’s Global Hub City Promotion Office, and Lauren Ha, Associate Vice President of OIST Innovation, who discussed the efforts to build a startup ecosystem in Shibuya City, collaboration with universities, and the potential for startups in Okinawa.
Additionally, Bilal Kharouni, CEO of ekei labs, a startup supported by SSS, and Eli Lyons, CEO of GenomeMiner, supported by OIST, also took to the stage to present their own experiences and the role universities and the government can play in the early stages of startups. Networking also took place later in the event.
